Goodfellow Bros., LLC has issued a notice to motorists that they will be performing construction along Kūlanihākoʻi Street for installation of underground utilities as part of the infrastructure work for Phase 1 of the Kīhei High School project.

Work will take place from Feb. 11, 2019 to April 30, 2019 with a full lane closure of Kūlanihākoʻi Street. Motorists are asked to plan ahead due to anticipated traffic delays during working hours.

County officials say a portion of Kūlanihākoʻi Street at its intersection with Piʻilani Highway in Kīhei will be closed 24 hours, seven days a week, beginning 7 a.m. Monday, Feb. 11, as part of open trench installation of underground utilities for the new Kīhei High School.  The project requires a complete closure of Kūlanihākoʻi from Piʻilani Highway to Mahealani Street.

Motorists will be detoured to alternate routes. Traffic delays may occur during construction.

Work is expected to be completed by April 30.

According to contractor Goodfellow Bros. LLC, message boards announcing pending roadwork went up on nearby roads in November and on Piʻilani Highway two weeks ago.

The project is being done in conjunction with the County of Maui, State of Hawaiʻi Department of Transportation, Maui Electric Company and Hawaiian Telcom.
