Mauiʻs own Outrageous Surf School ranked second on TripAdvisorʻs list of the Top 10 Most-Booked Classes and Workshops in the World in their 2019 Experiences Trends Report. The list includes a wide range of classes around the world, including the Roman Gladiator School and the Venice Carnival Mask-Making Class in Italy. Catamaranʻs Turtle Canyon Snorkel Cruise on Oʻahu earned the second spot on the reportʻs Top 10 Most-Booked Water Sports list.

The report, now in its second year, aims to highlight trends in the tourism industry to share key insights into traveler bookings globally, as well as travel trends. Wellness experiences, classes and workshops, and family-friendly activities are the most popular experience categories among US travelers while on vacation, according to the report.

Globally, traveler bookings for classes and workshops almost doubled year-over-year, the report highlights. Bookings for classes and workshops among American travelers spiked 94%. TripAdvisor spokesperson Molly Burke said the rises come as more travelers curate their trips to meet their own unique interests.

“Travelers are booking more immersive experiences than ever,” Burke said. “Whether that means bringing the whole family along or booking rejuvenating wellness experiences, travelers have so many options to really customize their trip, and immerse themselves in the local culture…they are experiences that will stay with travelers for a lifetime, long after they’ve put away their suitcase.”
