A diver was transported to the hospital in stable condition after he suffered from a medical emergency off Molokini Crater on Tuesday morning, Coast Guard officials said.

The 76-year-old man reportedly suffered from breathing difficulty after completing a second dive at the crater.

The master aboard the Maui Diamond II vessel requested medical assistance from the US Coast Guard at around 11:13 a.m. The agency responded and transferred a medic and EMT to the vessel where they treated the man while the vessel transited to Māʻalaea Harbor.

Awaiting emergency service personnel transferred the diver and took him to the Maui Memorial Medical Center for further care.
