This Saturday, June 8th, Maui’s UltraViolets, Kit Kat Club Cabaret and Oahu’s Cherry Blossom Cabaret put a new spin on the children’s educational computer game and PBS TV show with their “Where In The World Are The UltraViolets?” burlesque showcase.

Never again will you consider a woman in a trench coat and fedora in the same light (well, unless you’ve seen “9 1/2” weeks. Then you’re already ruined.) as the performances promise to “take you on an exotic, fantasy-inspired hunt for Hawaii’s hottest black light burlesque troupe.”

In what sounds like the recipe for an awkward first date, attendees can anticipate tassel twirling, sexy striptease, fun and flirty song & dance acts, and black light performance art.

The UltraViolets are a black light burlesque troupe that combines magical illusions, puppetry, theater, dance, and comedy. They strive to create a visually stunning and funny take on relationships, sexuality, and human behavior where “silly is the new sexy.”

This show is a fundraiser benefiting their first West Coast tour of the US and Canada.

The UltraViolets will be joined on stage by the Kit Kat Club, a cabaret burlesque troupe featuring professional singers and dancers. Known for their high energy, fancy footwork, and vibrant vocals, Maui’s own Kit Kat Club has been entertaining audiences since 2008. This group of theatrical entertainers draws most of its inspiration from the style and sophistication of the roaring 20s to the swinging 40s and beyond. These indulgent and rebellious bygone eras set the stage for the Kit Kat Club’s sizzling stage shows and lounge acts.

Also performing will be the Cherry Blossom Cabaret, Oahu’s premier burlesque revue.

Seductive, provocative and even outlandish, the Cherry Blossom Cabaret provides surreal and exotic onstage adventures.

The Honolulu-based troupe has various influences ranging from vaudeville style theater, B-grade horror and science fiction, film noir, kitsch, historical and political satire, comedic sketches and – of course – the art of the tease.

“Where In The World Are The UltraViolets?” will be staged at the Historic Iao Theater in Wailuku.

Not only is this maybe an odd choice for a night with your visiting in-laws, but the event is limited to those 18 and over.

Doors open at 7 p.m. and the show starts at 7:30 p.m.
