Rep. Gabbard Makes District Visit on Maui Today
By Wendy Osher
Congresswoman Tusli Gabbard is visiting Maui today as part of her latest district work period.
Stops include attendance at the Hale Mahaʻolu All-American Summer Picnic and a ride-along with the Meals on Wheels program via the Kaunoa Senior Center.
Rep. Gabbard will also meet with Bio-Logical Capital to learn about its efforts to improve employment and economic conditions on Maui; and visit Kula Country Farms to discuss ways they have made progress to better grow and sell their crops.
The visit will conclude with a meeting with the Native Hawaiian Education Maui Island Council to discuss re-authorization of the Native Hawaiian Education Act.
The Hawaiʻi congressional delegation introduced standalone companion bills, H.R. 2287 and S. 1107, in an effort to show support for the continued authorization of the NHEA. The bills are aimed at strengthening and helping to secure the program’s future.
