Free Glasses from Tropic Care Maui Ready for Pickup

Glasses are now ready for pickup for individuals who participated in the free series of health exams offered through the Tropic Care Maui event in June.

The Maui County Office of the Mayor issued a reminder today saying that although most of the glasses for Hāna, Molokaʻi and Lānaʻi have been distributed, there are still about 250 pairs remaining at the mayor’s office in the Kalana O Maui building in Wailuku, and another 50 pairs at St. Theresa’s Church in Kīhei.

The glasses were made by the US military as part of the free medical, dental and vision services provided by Tropic Care Maui, which ran from June 4 to 12 at clinics in Wailuku, Kīhei, Lahaina, Hāna, Molokaʻi and Lānaʻi.

The clinics were offered in collaboration with the mayor’s office, the Hawaiʻi Department of Health, and the US Military Innovative Readiness Training Program of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Reserve Affairs.

In addition to free health care for individuals on Maui, the clinics also served as rapid response training for some 400 military personnel.

According to information released by County Communications Specialist Lois Bisquera, members of the public should call the mayor’s office or St. Theresa’s Church if they would like to confirm whether their glasses are available for pickup before visiting. The mayor’s office can be reached at 270-7855 and St. Theresa’s can be reached at 879-4844.
