Charges Filed Against Martin, Bail Set at $320,000

A man arrested in connection with an alleged attack of another individual at a Kahului home on Sunday has since been charged and was being held in lieu of $350,000 bail.
Edward Riley Martin, 55, was charged on Tuesday, Aug. 6, with second degree attempted murder, first degree terroristic threatening, and violation of an order for protection, according to Maui Police Lieutenant William Juan.
The charges stem from an incident reported at 5:42 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 4, 2013, in which police responded to a report of a “disorderly conduct” and “abuse in progress” case.
According to police reports, responding officers arrived at the Molokaʻi ʻĀkau Street home to find one man covered in blood, with lacerations. The man was later transported to the hospital in stable condition.
Police arrested Martin in connection with the incident on on Monday, Aug. 5.
According to police reports, bail set for each of the charges includes $250,000 for the attempted murder II charge, $50,000 for the terroristic threatening I charge, and $20,000 for the charge for violating an order for protection.
