Maui Electric Company will host two community meetings to provide information and updates on the Māʻalaea to Kamaliʻi 69kV Transmission Line Project, company officials announced.

“The transmission line project is part of Maui Electric Company’s South Maui Reliability Projects which are proposed to meet the existing and future electrical needs of the growing South Maui community,” officials said in a public notice.

According to information released by MECO, the preliminary design concept and route options for the transmission line project, will be presented to the community at two upcoming meetings.

The meetings will take place at the following times and locations.

  • South Maui: at the Kīhei Community Center on Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2013, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
  • Central Maui: at Pōmaikaʻi Elementary School Cafeteria in Kahului on Thursday, Sept. 5, 2013, from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

Company officials say the public is encouraged to attend and provide comments.
