Maui Coffee Roasters Expands to US Mainland
By Wendy Osher
After more than 30 years of operation in Hawaiʻi, Maui Coffee Roasters has announced an expansion into the US mainland market.
The company says their first mainland retail location is a drive-thru shop in Spokane, Washington.
They also predicted it would be the first of 10 retail stores slated to open throughout the Pacific northwest within the next three years.
Company vice president Michael Okazaki said that by expanding, he hopes to enhance the image of Hawaiian coffees throughout the western US.
Jay Higgins, head of the affiliated Maui Coffee Roasters USA, said the new location is designed as the prototype store for additional company-owned and franchise-operated units. In a press release statement he said, “Coffee is a way of life in the Pacific northwest, so it’s an ideal place for us to be.”
The company says this is the second offshore venture for the Kahului-based Maui Coffee Roasters, which also has a retail store in Tokyo, Japan.
