Maui police officer Matthew Biggos was honored with the the Hawaiʻi State Law Enforcement Officials Association’s Officer of the Year award during a recent ceremony.

Maui police say Officer Biggos was honored for his hard work and investigative skills as a member of the MPD Crime Reduction Unit.

Police credited Officer Biggos with his role in an investigation that dismantled the illegal distribution of prescription pills and other narcotics in Kīhei.

After the completion of the operation, police say a Grand Jury indicted six individuals on a total of 20 felony charges, with all six individuals pleading guilty to the crimes.

Officer Biggos earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from the University of Maryland in 2003, and joined the Maui Police Department in August of 2004.
