Banquet Celebrates HP Baldwin 75th Anniversary

A series of events surrounding the 75th Anniversary celebration of HP Baldwin High School on Maui are planned in October.

The committee organizing the event announced details of a banquet to be held Saturday, Oct. 19, at the King Kamehameha Golf Club.

The no-host cocktail event begins at 5:30 p.m., with dinner and a program set to start at 6 p.m.

The event includes a 75th Anniversary video produced by Baldwin High School’s Media and Video Production group, and entertainment by Asian Blend featuring five BHS alumni.

The lineup includes original singer Jerry Kawahara; Mitch Hazama on keyboards; lead vocalists Desiree Echalas-Toda, Jay Molina and Alan Pascua; current members Tarvin Makia and Earl Apo; drummer Mike Kennedy; and guitarist and vocalist Dave Ray Toma.

Event organizers say activities will also include a silent auction and photo booth to raise funds for HP Baldwin High School.

Other activities planned in celebration of the BHS 75th Anniversary include the following:

  • Oct 3 – Maui Fair Parade featuring Baldwin 75th Anniversary floats
  • Oct 18 – Baldwin High School tour, lunch and talk story session
  • Oct 19 – Baldwin High Benefit Golf Tournament, Dunes at Maui Lani Golf Course
  • Oct 19 – Baldwin High School 75th Anniversary banquet, King Kamehameha Golf Club
  • Oct 22 – Homecoming rally, Baldwin High School campus
  • Oct 25 – Homecoming football game, War Memorial Stadium
  • Oct 26 – Hoʻolauleʻa, Baldwin High School campus, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Tickets for the BHS Anniversary banquet are $75 each and can be purchased by calling 280-1299. More information is also available online at hpbaldwinmaui75th.com.
