A water shutdown is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, Dec. 17, in Kahului as contractors work to extend a waterline on Kāne Street.

The project was originally scheduled for today, but was postponed to minimize customer impact, according to Water Department officials.

The work will run from 8 p.m. on Tuesday Dec. 17, to 4 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 18.

During construction, customers will be without water on Kamehameha Avenue between Kāne Street and Lono Avenue.

Traffic will also be limited to a single lane at the intersection of Kāne Street and Kamehameha Avenue during the construction period.

Water officials advise that customers may want to flush their waterlines for a short time on Wednesday morning to ensure that no sediment has accumulated in their waterlines during the project.
