Firefighters from Pāʻia responded to a two-acre brush fire near the Paʻuwela Lighthouse in Haʻikū Tuesday night.

The incident was reported shortly before 7:30 p.m. and involved an area of brush with trash and an abandoned truck, according to Maui Fire Services Chief Lee Mainaga.

According to department reports, the fire was under control by 8:50 p.m. and extinguished at 11:25 p.m.

“Access to the fire was limited due to the bad road conditions and overgrown elephant grass,” Mainaga said.

No damages or injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire was undetermined, officials said.
