Tree Branch Cuts Power to 1,800 on Molokaʻi

An estimated 1,800 electrical customers on Molokaʻi lost power on Tuesday afternoon when a tree branch fell, bringing down power lines on the Kalaʻe Highway, according to Maui Electric Company.
The incident was reported at 12:05 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2014, and knocked out power to customers in the areas of Kualapuʻu, Kalaʻe, and the east end of the island.
Maui Electric Company Communications Director Kauʻi Awai-Dickson said power was restored to 1,400 of the affected customers by 1:20 p.m. on Tuesday, and remaining customers were brought back online at 2:58 p.m., upon completion of repairs.
Company representatives thanked customers for their patience as crews worked to restore power as quickly and safely as possible.
