North Shore Surf Rises to Warning Levels

A high surf warning remains in effect until 6 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 17, for the north and west facing shores of Molokaʻi, and the north facing shores of Maui.

The National Weather Service issued the advisory saying surf is expected to 12 to 20 feet along affected north shores, and 8 to 10 feet along affected west shores.

Forecasters advise that warning level surf will produce dangerous swimming conditions, battering waves pounding the shoreline, and deadly rip currents.

According to the NWS forecast surf is expected to drop below warning levels tonight, but remain above advisory levels through Saturday, and then likely rise back to warning levels on Sunday.
