A section of Hansen Road in Central Maui will be closed for approximately two days to allow the removal of dead tree branches overhanging the road, county officials announced today.

The affected section of Hansen Road is between the Mokulele Highway and Pūlehu Road.

The section of road is scheduled to close at 7:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 20, and reopen the afternoon of Friday, March 21.

County officials say the overhanging tree branches are located along a heavily-traveled section of road, and are posing hazards to the area.

“The public’s understanding and patience during the closure are appreciated as workers address this important safety issue,” the announcement said.

***County officials revised the wording from their original announcement to indicate dead wood branches would be removed instead of the entire trees.
