RESTORED: 2,200 Lose Power with Downed Lines, Trees

An estimated 1,400 electric customers on the East end of Molokaʻi, and 800 customers in parts of Makawao and Olinda on Maui were without power for several hours on Saturday, March 15, 2014.

Officials with Maui Electric Company say the Maui outage was caused when a tree came down on Olinda Road at around 9:50 a.m.  Power was restored by 2:15 p.m., according to company officials.

The Molokaʻi outage was reported shortly before 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, and was restored within about an hour.  The outage was atributed to downed electric lines.
