Four Medevaced For Jellyfish Stings Near Molokini

Four people were medevaced from Molokini Crater after sustaining jellyfish stings on Tuesday, March 25, 2014, according to information released by the US Coast Guard in Hawaiʻi.

A charter vessel reported the incident to the Coast Guard Station on Maui, saying one adult and three children were stung while snorkeling near the crater.

Coast Guard officials say the adult was in shock, and the three children sustained only minor injuries.

The Coast Guard dispatched a 25-foot Response Boat  from the Maui Station at Māʻalaea to Molokini.

The response boat arrived on scene at 10:10 a.m. and transferred the injured people to the Kīhei Boat Ramp on Maui where emergency medical personnel were waiting, according to information contained in an agency press release. 

The Molokini Islet is a popular snorkeling destination for visitors and tourists, and is located in the ʻAlalākeiki Channel between the islands of Maui and Kahoʻolawe.
