AAA Hawaiʻi is offering a “tipsy tow” service on the Fourth of July as a last resort for individuals needing a ride home after drinking.

The service is available in areas served by AAA Hawaiʻi, and is good for a free tow home of up to five miles. The tow is unique in that it provides a driver with a safe ride home for themselves and their vehicle instead of driving while intoxicated.

The service is available from 6 p.m. on Thursday, July 3, until midnight on Friday, July 4, 2014.

Motorists, bartenders, restaurant managers, party hosts or passengers of a drinking driver can call 1-800-222-4357 for the service, and a regular AAA Hawaiʻi-contracted emergency road service truck will be dispatched.

Callers can also tell AAA operators, “I need a Tipsy Tow,” to receive the free tow and ride home.
