CANCELED: Flood Advisory Issued for Maui

Update: The flood advisory has been cancelled as of 3:49 p.m.

The National Weather Service has issued a flood advisory for the island of Maui, in effect until 5 p.m.

This advisory may need to be extended if heavy rain persists.

At 1:54 p.m., radar showed heavy rain near Pukalani or about 10 miles southeast of Kahului. The area of heavy rain was nearly stationary.

Other locations in the advisory include but are not limited to Sprekelsville, Pauwela, Paia, Makawao, Huelo, Haliimaile and Haiku.

Maui County Civil Defense will continue to monitor the situation.
