Hawai‘i Red Cross Continues to Respond to Wind Storm Victims

Hawai‘i Red Cross volunteers are continuing to followup with residents affected by the wind storm that swept through the islands on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 3 and 4, 2015.

Volunteers are ensuring that immediate emergency needs are met. They are also providing referrals, guidance or additional assistance as needed to help with the recovery process.

On Jan. 3, Red Cross volunteers assessed the damages brought by the wind storm in Hawai‘i County, Maui County and on O‘ahu.

In Maui County, volunteers identified two homes that appear to have sustained damaged, but they are currently inaccessible.

In Hawai‘i County, volunteers met with two families whose homes were destroyed in Pahoa and Mountain View, and provided them with financial assistance for their immediate emergency needs–food, shelter and clothing.

On O‘ahu, volunteers identified two homes for follow-up assistance.
