Kaiser Permanente Employees Honor Holiday with Service Day at Maui Farm

In an ongoing tradition, Kaiser Permanente staff and physicians honored Martin Luther King Jr. Day by offering service to the Maui community. Over 100 employees and their families lent a helping hand to The Maui Farm in Makawao on Monday, Jan. 19, clearing debris and trimming overgrown trees, as well as landscaping and assisting with renovations on the 8.3-acre property.

“This is our second year volunteering at The Maui Farm, which does amazing work to help families achieve self-sufficiency through farm-based programs,” said David Ulin, MD, Kaiser Permanente’s physician incharge for Maui. “As Maui residents, we’re proud to partner with local nonprofits that support healthy living and thriving communities on this day of service.”

The daylong service project was part of a larger Kaiser Permanente community service effort involving more than a thousand employees in Hawai‘i. Nationally, thousands of Kaiser employees shared the spirit of honoring Dr. King with their own community service work.
