The MACC Presents Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue
The Maui Arts & Cultural Center will present Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue on Friday, April 10, beginning at 7:30 p.m. in the Castle Theater.
The bandleader and front man of Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue is New Orleans native Troy Andrews. The group forms a hard-edged funk band that employs hip-hop beats, rock dynamics and improvisation in a jazz tradition.
Together, Trombone Shorty and his band have recorded chart-topping albums, toured the world and appeared on TV, at the Grammy Awards and at the White House.
Good things continue to happen for Trombone Shorty, thanks to his virtuosity, his dedication and his ability to move people.
In 2012, Andrews received the President’s Medal from Tulane University in recognition of his charitable work with the Trombone Shorty Foundation. The foundation donates quality instruments to schools across New Orleans.
He pursues his passion with humility and unpretentiousness, making his still-unfolding story as compelling as the music he’s making along the way.
Tickets are $35, $45, $65 and $85 plus applicable fees, available to MACC members first on Saturday, Feb. 21, beginning at at 10 a.m.
Tickets go on sale to the public on Saturday, Feb. 28, at 10 a.m.
