The Hui Noʻeau Visual Arts Center is offering a variety of classes and workshops for all ages through April.

ADULTS

Watercolor and Pastel Seascape Workshop with Carmen Gardner
Saturday, April 4, 1 to 4 p.m.
In this mini workshop, Gardner will guide participants in learning how to combine watercolor and pastel to create waves, foam, clouds, rocks, splashes, and more. If you want a creative afternoon activity, this class is for you. Click here to register.

Saturday, April 4, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Create a one-of-a-kind silk scarf with the easy and beautiful cyanotype process. This photographic process, invented in the 19th century utilizes iron salts, sunlight, and three-dimensional objects as a method for producing original silk art. Discover Glassblowing with Stephen Fellerman
Thursday, April 9, 6 to 9 p.m.
Get your first taste of glassblowing and try your hand at this fascinating and magical art form. You will learn to gather glass from the furnace, blow, shape bubbles and more. Students will learn the basics of glassblowing while creating paperweights and/or other basic forms. No previous experience is required. Click here to register.

Saturdays, 8 weeks, April 4 to May 23, 9 a.m. to noon
If you can walk and talk at the same time, you can handbuild in clay! As you pinch, coil, and roll using fundamental hand forming techniques, you will learn the basic properties of clay, including process and terminology. The possibilities are endless! Click here to register.

KEIKI & YOUNG ADULT

keikiPreschool Story Arts for Ages 2.5 to 5 with Julie Matheis
Saturday, April 11, 10 a.m. to noon
Spend creative time with your little one as you work together to create artwork inspired by children’s books. After learning the stories and talking about the illustrations, we will explore imagery by painting with tempera and watercolors, sculpting with clay, and drawing with colored pencils, markers and oil pastels. Click here to register.

Rhythm of the Ocean! Mixed Media Art Inspired by the Sea for Ages 5 to 9 with Brett Summerlee
Thursdays, 4 weeks, April 16 to May 7,  3:30 to  5:30 p.m.
Ahoy! Let your child’s imagination set sail on a voyage of creativity and fun in this after school class. Keiki will paint, draw and create 3D works of art inspired by the ocean, surfing, sea creatures and island life. Click here to register!

Ceramics for Young Adults: Wheel Throwing & Handbuilding with Bob Flint (ages 10-plus)
Thursdays, 6 weeks, April 16 to May 21, 3:30 to 5:30 p.m.
Cups, plates, bowls, tiles and more. In this introductory ceramics class, students will create their own functional art as they explore the handling of clay using wheel throwing, handbuilding, glazing and texturing techniques. Click here to register!
