The National Weather Service’s Central Pacific Hurricane Center issued a tropical weather outlook at 8 a.m. on Friday, July 3 for the Central North Pacific (between 140 degrees W and 180 degrees W).

An area of showers and thunderstorms associated with a disturbance is located more than 1,200 miles east-southeast of Hilo on Hawai‘i Island. Surface and upper air conditions near the feature may allow some development over the next two days as it eventually heads toward the northwest.

The formation chance through the next 48 hours is 40 percent.
