The office of US Senator Brian Schatz is accepting applications for the annual Schatz Seniors High School Internship Program.

Now in its third year, the Schatz Seniors program provides a hands-on learning opportunity for students, creates a forum for students to share issues and information with the Senator and his staff, and encourages students to be leaders in their schools and communities.

Schatz Seniors will work with outreach staff, identify issues of interest in their schools and communities, and attend special events.

“The Schatz Seniors program is an incredible opportunity for our office to work with the future leaders of Hawaiʻi,” Senator Schatz said in a press release.  “We have interns across the state who are engaged in their communities, and I look forward to working with them every year,” he said.

According to Senator Schatz, this internship is not an office position and students should miss little or no class time in performing the tasks or assignments related to the program.

Public, private, charter, and homeschool seniors are invited to apply. In order to qualify, students must have a GPA of 2.5 or higher and have personal access to email throughout the internship.

Interns will be selected based on their involvement in their community, diversity of interests and life experiences as well as demonstrated leadership involvement.
