The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services announced that Kaiser Permanente Hawai‘i is the only Medicare plan in the state to receive a five-star rating—the highest overall rating for quality and service—for the fifth consecutive year.

The Medicare star quality rating overall score is based on more than 40 care and service quality measures across nine categories, including staying healthy, managing chronic conditions, member experience, customer service and pharmacy services.

The five-star rating represents Kaiser Permanente’s ability to consistently deliver quality care and service to Medicare beneficiaries.

“We are proud to be the highest rated plan in Hawai‘i and among the top plans in the nation,” said Mary Ann Barnes, RN, president of Kaiser Permanente Hawai‘i. “Members and nonmembers are able to use the five-star rating system to select a plan that fits their needs, based on quality and services.”

“We’re honored to be recognized for our dedication to excellence in caring for the health of Hawai‘i’s seniors,” said Geoffrey Sewell, MD, president and executive medical director of Hawai‘i Permanente Medical Group. “Our physicians and providers strive to provide high-quality care and exceptional service to all our members, including making sure they’re up-to-date on lifesaving screenings and supported with the challenges of managing their chronic health conditions.”
