MauiAccommodations.com, a Maui-based site for book-direct accommodations on the island, has introduced a new twice-monthly blog entitled “All About Maui,” covering various timely Maui travel topics for visitors, which are written by a local resident.

Implemented in July, the first dozen “All About Maui” blogs have covered a wide range of visitor-oriented topics including: “The Best Time to Visit Maui,” “The Top Ten Things to Do on Maui,” “Family Things to Do on Maui,” “Romantic Things to Do on Maui,” “Practical Do’s and Don’ts for Maui Visitors,” “Rainy Day Activities on Maui,” “Local Hawaii Words and Phrases,” “Tips for Getting Married on Maui,” “How to Choose Where to Stay on Maui” and “Things To Do on Maui in Fall.”

The most recent blog, posted last week is “Maui Whale Watching Tips,” in preparation for the upcoming winter whale season in the islands.

The “All About Maui” travel tips are written by MauiAccommodations.com Publisher Candy Aluli, who has lived in Hawai‘i for over three decades. A resident of Maui for the past 16 years, Aluli has had a longstanding career as a public relations professional in Hawai‘i’s visitor industry. She has written two island guidebooks in years past—authoring the 11th Edition of Paradise Family Guides’ Maui guidebook published by Ulysses Press in 2005 and co-authoring the 5th Edition of The Unofficial Guide to Hawai‘i published by John Wiley & Sons Inc. in 2008.

“When I travel, I like to hear what the locals recommend,” said Aluli, “and that’s the approach I’ve taken with ‘All About Maui.’ Even for visitors who have been here many times, it’s still helpful to hear the inside scoop from someone who lives here. The tips and suggestions I offer in All About Maui are the same things I share with my own friends and family members who are coming to Maui for a visit.”

Aluli said that blog topics coming up in the next several weeks will likely include a guide to Maui’s beaches, an introduction to local foods, popular winter activities and events on Maui, recommended Maui shopping spots and exploring Maui on a budget.

“There are unlimited topics to cover,” she said, “and things are always changing on Maui, so I don’t expect I will ever run out of new information to write about!”

MauiAccommodations.com began in 1997 as the Maui Accommodations Guide, a printed guide that was published quarterly; it is now exclusively an online-only resource. The site features advertised listings of traditional accommodations (hotels, resorts, condos, inns) as well as licensed/permitted vacation rentals in Maui County, from mega-resorts and ultra-luxury homes to privately-owned condo units and cottages. Links and contacts are provided for site users to book directly with the owners or management companies. MauiAccommodations.com does not act as an intermediary or booking agent, and there is no service charge or booking fee for travelers who use the site.

MauiAccommodations.com also publishes a free monthly Maui Deals & Steals e-newsletter with the latest exclusive book-direct bargains offered by advertisers. A new “Things To Do” section is being developed on the site to provide information and recommendations on activity and dining options.
