Maui’s Glick Design Earns 2015 American Graphic Design Awards
Glick Design of Kahului, Maui was recognized recently for design excellence, earning three 2015 American Graphic Design Awards.
The awards include graphic design concepts for: the Grand Wailea Resort; the state of Hawaiʻi Department of Business, Economic Development and Tourism; and Manaʻo Radio.
The Grand Wailea Resort project was part of the Large Groups Meetings Brochure category. The design featured a six-page print collateral piece that highlighted the benefits of corporate gatherings at the hotel.
Photography of the resort grounds, amenities, charts, and detailed graphic illustrations of the meeting spaces were used to tell the story.
Glick Design also won an award in the Creative Lab, Logo Design category for a design produced for the state Department of Business, Economic Development and Tourism.
The logo featured a swirling design of rainbow colored dots that radiate into a curve resembling a breaking wave or pulsating speaker.
The graphic identity was designed to represent the place where creative entrepreneurs have immersive training in motion pictures, television, screenwriting, broadband, new media, interactive/technology, music and design.
A third award went to Glick Design for its logo design for Manaʻo Hana Hou Radio. The designer’s choice award recognized Glick Design for a retro-style logo with bold graphics, offered as pro bono work for the listener supported station.
Robert Glick created the graphic design and graphic production for all three projects. This awards cycle included items created from January 2014 to June 2015.
For five decades, the American Graphic Design Awards competition has been conducted in New York City and has emerged as one of the most comprehensive of all graphic communication awards in North America.
It honors outstanding work of all kinds across all media including: internet and interactive design, print and collateral, advertising and sales promotion, packaging and point-of-purchase, broadcast and motion graphics, corporate identity and logos.
The judges, a panel of nationally-prominent design professionals, reviewed over 9,000 entries from thousands of US-based graphic design firms, advertising agencies, corporate in-house creative departments and publishers and selected only about 15% of the entries.
The 2015 Graphic Design USA Annual will be published in December and will be mailed to more than 30,000 corporate clients, publishers, ad agencies and graphic design firms and distributed nationally at trade shows and design events with a total readership of over 50,000 across the US and Canada.
Glick Design is located in the Queen Kaʻahumanu Center Office Building in Kahului.
