Alerts

A High Surf Advisory is posted for north and west facing shores of Molokai and the north shore of Maui through 6 p.m. Friday.

A Small Craft Advisory is in effect for all channels (except Pailolo) and windward Maui County waters through 8 p.m. Friday for 10 to 15 foot seas.

ARTICLE CONTINUES BELOW AD

North: The best breaks could get up to overhead double overhead today.  On the sets triple overhead waves are possible at the best exposures. Trade swell brings waist/chest high waves.

West: Wave heights are knee/waist high today out of the south-southwest. Exposures open to the west-northwest / northwest could get up to waist/shoulder high.

South: Wave heights are knee/waist high today out of the south-southwest. Trade swell will be on the way down today.

Screen Shot 2015-12-31 at 4.08.58 PMA new west-northwest / northwest swell is expected to hold through Friday. Reinforcing swell is expected to fill in for the 2nd and 3rd out of the west-northwest / northwest with overhead / double overhead waves expected on the sets.

Trade swell is expected to level off and hold through the weekend.

Our current south-southwest brings small but rideable waves through Friday.

Keep in mind, surf heights are measured on the face of the wave from trough to crest. Heights vary from beach to beach, and at the same beach, from break to break.
