UB40 will perform at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center’s A&B Amphitheater on Saturday, Jan. 30, starting at 6:30 p.m.; gates will open at 5:30 p.m.

The original members of UB40—Ali Campbell, Astro and Mickey Virtue—enjoyed huge success from 1979 until 2008, including  multiple No. 1, Top-10, gold- and platinum-selling albums; Grammy nominations; and four No. 1 hits worldwide.

Campbell, Astro and Virtue helped define reggae music for a generation.

The multiracial band pooled a diverse set of influences to put a fresh, indigenous slant on Jamaican reggae. After 2008, the band that carried on using the name UB40 was made up of other founding members and new members, but in 2013, when Campbell reunited with Astro and Virtue, audiences again experienced the true sound of the hugely successful band.

As consummate live performers with triumphant gigs this year all over the globe, Campbell, Astro and Virtue recently turned their attention to the studio and a new album, Silhouette—an inspired mix of freshly minted new songs and sparkling, reggae-fied cover versions of classics by the Beatles, Bob Dylan, the Chi-Lites and others.

Now, following spectacular gigs at home and abroad, the trio are facing the future with renewed confidence and vigor.

Tickets are $49 (in advance), $59 (day-of-show), $89 VIP (advance) and $99 VIP (day-of-show) (plus applicable fees).
