The County of Maui Department of Environmental Management, Solid Waste Division, today announced that due to insufficient staffing, the Hāna Landfill will close at 1 p.m. on Feb. 9, 11, 18, 19 and 20, 2016 and the Lānaʻi Landfill will close at 1 p.m. Feb. 19 and 20, 2016.

County officials say the closures are necessary for the department to ensure safe operations and to meet the minimum State Department of Health operating requirements of the County’s solid waste permit.

Representatives with the Solid Waste Division apologized for the inconvenience.
