Jewel Salon & Spa is a full-service luxury salon and day spa with a coastal design flare.

Located Upcountry in Makawao since May of last year, the shop offers hair, nail, massage, facial, waxing, bridal and acupuncture services with a commitment to excellence in customer service and value, while using clean and chemical-free products whenever available.

This unpretentious, boutique-style, Upcountry gem provides a fun, friendly, beachy and relaxed atmosphere.

Jewel features three comfortable hair stations, a manicure and pedicure haven and a relaxing treatment room oasis. Clients enjoy calming music while they sip organic herbal tea, reflect, refresh and rejuvenate mind, body and soul in the shop’s relaxation room.

“The salon and spa are dedicated to nurturing your ‘jewel’—your being—inside as well as out,” said Owner, Massage Therapist and Esthetican Jennifer Dreisch. “We promise individual attention and great value for all of our customers and we strive for complete professionalism in the services we provide.”

“All of our licensed specialists sincerely enjoy what they do and it is reflected in the loyalty of our clients,” said Dreisch. “Listening to our clients is key to success; we never want anyone to leave unhappy.”

“I am a wellness enthusiast, always looking for more ways to find healing and heath for the human body,” said Dreisch.

Dreisch’s credentials are impressive. After attending college at Hobart and William Smith in 1996, she became a massage therapist after graduating from The Massage Therapy Institute of Colorado in 2000. Next, she received her esthetician’s license from Spa Luna in 2006. She became a holistic health counselor in 2008 after receiving a certificate from The Institute of Integrative Health in New York City. At Maya Yoga Studio on Maui, she finished her 500-hour teacher training 2014 to become a yoga instructor.

She has also worked and studied with many different therapists and doctors.

Before moving to Maui, Dreisch lived in Vail, Colorado, for approximately 15 years, working as a massage therapist and esthetician in high-end resorts and hotel spas.

“I loved every minute of it, healing the sore achy muscles of skiers passing through town and restoring hydration to the dehydrated skin one gets when visiting the mountains.”

She came to Maui in 2006 for esthetician school to learn about holistic skin care.

“While living here, I realized this was what my mind, body and spirit was calling a home,” she said.

“Now, as a salon and spa owner, I love that I can continue to be creative with my hands and as well with my mind by creating different modalities for my clients with special packages and promotions,” said Dreisch.

“Life seems to build up stress, disfunction and a foggy mind, and when we don’t find a way to have an outlet to take care of ourselves, the human body can only hold on to so much,” she said.

“Although we always strive to look our best on the outside, we must also nurture ourselves from the inside,” said Dreisch. “Jewel Salon & Spa Maui is a place to balance, rejuvenate and restore the ‘jewel’ we are all meant to be.”

The shop carries eco-friendly products that not only nurture the body but also keep the environment healthy.

“We care about what goes on your skin, the air you breathe and nourishing you!” said Dreisch.

The shop’s hair care line, Phyto from France, is plant-derived, vegan and super-balancing. The shop uses LING skin care from NYC, a holistic line free of parabans, mineral oils and anything that is counterintuitive to the skin. The shop’s body butters from Sweet Mana are chemical-free and eco-friendly. For nails, the shop uses ZOYA, a chemical-free nail polish.

The shop also sells essential oils, handmade jewelry and a selection of print yoga pants. For details about the shop’s product lines, click here.

The shop’s staff includes three other experts in their respective fields.

Stylist and Nail Tech Cheri Clark specializes in color, cuts and creating a style for each client’s needs.

“However,” Clark added, “nails have also been my passion for over 10 years. I love doing nail art. I am always open to discuss any question or concerns a client may have with their hair or nails and I like to share information on treatments, products and proper hair and nail care.”

Clark places high value on detail, listening to her clients and striving to understand their needs.

“Because I want to give my clients the very best service available, I also feel it is very important to continue my education so that I can stay up to date with current styles and techniques,” added Clark. “I am very excited to be a part of Jewel Salon & Spa. We have a great team.”

Stylist Tanya White said she has always had a passion for her chosen career.

“I made the decision to pursue a career in cosmetology at the Sacremento City College,” said White. “I have been in the industry for eight years and have managed the salon for the past two. I love being a hairstylist and creating the perfect style and color the client desires.”

White specializes in cuts and highlights and strives to offer the best service possible by understanding the client’s wishes. She values making her clients happy so they will leave with a style they are pleased with. She also looks for ways to further educate her self so I can stay current with the new styles.

“I am happy to be a part of Jewels Salon & Spa with a team that offers high-quality service and care,” White added.

Virginia Burns has over 12 years experience as an acupuncturist. She is trained in Chinese herbal medicine, cupping therapy, gentle facial cupping and cosmetic acupuncture. She uses a very gentle acupuncture technique and also uses energy healing, similar to reiki, in her work. She has special interest in treating people experiencing pain, infertility, fatigue, weight gain/obesity, memory problems and depression, anxiety and stress.

“I will take on any health problem, including those that have not responded well to conventional medical treatment or other alternative medicines,” said Burns.

This May, Jewel Spa & Salon will celebrate its one-year anniversary with the introduction of two new packages (go online in late April for details).

“Jewel had become our home, our love and our happiness, and we hope you can visit, have a treatment or service, or just stop in and say aloha,” Dreisch added.

The shop, located in at upstairs at 3660 Baldwin Ave. across from the Rodeo General Store, is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
