High surf of about 20 to 30 feet forced the closure of Hoʻokipa Beach Park today. Lifeguards assigned to the park have been assigned to other beaches for the day and will reevaluate the situation on Tuesday morning, Feb. 23, 2016.
Surf is expected to get bigger as the day goes on, and likely come crashing over the park’s beachwall and into the pavilion areas as they have during past high surf days.
