Island Air Hires 27 for Līhu‘e Service Relaunch

IslandAir-LihueEmployees-031016Island Air has hired 27 employees, including 19 from Kaua‘i and eight from O‘ahu, as it prepares to relaunch service to Līhu‘e on March 15.

The employees include eight returning team members.

“We are extremely proud to welcome these talented and dedicated individuals to our Island Air ‘ohana,” said Les Murashige, Island Air’s president and CEO. “In anticipation of our relaunch of service to Kaua‘i, the returning employees and the new hires have been undergoing extensive training and working toward our shared goal of providing customers with the best interisland travel experience.”

Leina Alcos, who previously worked for Island Air for eight years, returns as the Līhu‘e station manager, where she will oversee all station operations.

In addition to inviting former employees to re-apply, new team members were recruited through job fairs and other outreach efforts to fill positions that include customer service agents, ramp agents and station manager.

Island Air will resume service to Kaua‘i on March 15 with six daily round-trip flights between Honolulu and Līhu‘e, with connecting flights to Kahului. Island Air’s check-in counter at Līhu‘e Airport will be located in Lobby A between West Jet and United Airlines ticket counters, and flights will depart from and arrive at Gate 7.
