MEO will accept applications for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) Monday through Friday, from Wednesday, June 1, 2016, through Thursday, June 30, 2016 (excluding holidays).

LIHEAP assistance is available in Hawai‘i only during June. The program is designed to assist low-income residents who pay a high proportion of their income for home energy.

Maui County residents may be eligible for one of two programs:

  1. Energy Credit Gas or electric bill payment assistance
  2. Energy Crisis Intervention Financial assistance of up to $350 to households that have been disconnected from electric service within seven days of application (or will soon be shut off).
