600 to Earn UHMC Degrees on Maui and Molokaʻi

An estimated 600 students on Maui and Molokaʻi will graduate from the University of Hawai’i Maui College during ceremonies scheduled this week.

Maui’s graduation ceremony will be held on Thursday, May 12 at 5:30 p.m. on the Great Lawn at UH Maui College. More than 300 students will participate, receiving associate and Bachelor degrees. The Commencement Speaker will be Alec McBarnet, Jr, President and CEO of Maui Oil Company, Inc. He is the Chair of the Maui College Chancellor’s Advisory Board.

On Molokaʻi, UH Maui College Molokaʻi Education Center commencement ceremonies will be held on Friday, May 13 at 3 pm. at the Molokaʻi Education Center. Molokaʻi, which has a graduation ceremony every four years, will be honoring a total of approximately 40 graduates from the years 2012 – 2016. The Commencement Address will be given by Steve Uyehara of Hawai’i News Now.

“All of us at UH Maui College are very proud of the accomplishments of our students,” said Chancellor Lui Hokoana in a press release. “This year we celebrate the success of more than 600 graduates. My hope is that they have learned to support themselves, their families, and our Maui Nui community.”

University of Hawaiʻi Maui College is the largest neighbor island college in the University of Hawaiʻi system, and serves the educational needs of residents of the three islands that comprise Maui County: Molokaʻi, Lānaʻi, and Maui.

UH Maui College is an accredited college that offers three bachelor of applied science degrees, a wide variety of associate degrees and certificates, as well as distance learning degrees through its UH Center on campus.
