UPDATE: Kaʻahumanu Avenue Rollover Accident

A Maui man was transported to the hospital after experiencing a medical condition while driving on Kaʻahumanu Avenue in Kahului on Thursday afternoon.

The incident was reported at 1:57 p.m. on Thursday, July 2, 2016 at the intersection of Kaʻahumanu Avenue and Kanaloa Avenue. Police say responding officers observed a black Honda SUV with front and drivers side damages.

The lone operator, 51 year old male, from Kahana, was still inside as Medics and Fire Personnel conducted Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation.

A preliminary police investigation revealed that the man was traveling east on Kaʻahumanu Avenue when he experienced a medical condition. The vehicle then collided into a tree causing the vehicle to roll over onto the driver’s side.

Bystanders assisted by pushing the vehicle upright before First Responders arrived on scene. The driver was transported to Maui Memorial Medical Center for treatment regarding his medical condition.

Maui Police are responding to reports of a rollover accident on Kaʻahumanu Ave near the Kanaloa Avenue intersection in Kahului.

The accident was reported at around 2 p.m. on Thursday, June 2, 2016.

Traffic is being diverted around the scene while crews work to clean debris from the road.

At 2:15 p.m., police issued a traffic advisory saying there is a partial road closure in effect for the Wailuku or west-bound traffic on Kaʻahumanu Avenue.
