The Maui Humane Society will be holding its next FREE spay/neuter clinic for cats June 21 through June 25.  This large scale spay-neuter clinic is held outdoors, under tents in order to accommodate the large volume of pets in surgery and recovery.

Organizers say “pets receive the same quality case as they would in any veterinary clinic with surgeries being conducted by multiple licensed, professional veterinarians who are highly skilled at performing large numbers of high quality spays and neuters in these settings.”

Since April of 2015, nine Mobile Animal Surgical Hospital or “MASH” clinics have been held at the Maui Humane Society and over 3,600 animals have been spayed and neutered at no charge to the members of the community.

The goal for the upcoming clinic is to spay/neuter 600 cats. As an extra incentive, for every INTACT cat brought into the clinic to be spayed/neutered, customers will be entered for a chance to win a $25 Petco gift card. An appointment is required by calling (808) 877-3680 ext. 3.

The Maui Humane Society also needs help finding stray and community cats on Maui that need to be spayed/neutered. “We are seeking the public’s help in identifying places on the island where there are 20+ stray and feral cats in need of spay & neuter,” said Nancy Willis of the Maui Humane Society. “This information will enable us to better coordinate efforts to help these cats,” she said.  Anyone who can help is asked to email: [email protected].

The Maui Humane Society is also seeking volunteers to assist with the clinic. “We are especially in need of volunteers with medical experience to assist in post-op recovery every day throughout the clinic. We also need help with registration/greeting, runners and set up/tear down (before and after the event),” said Willis. Those interested in helping can contact the Maui Humane Society at [email protected] or call (808) 877-3680 ext. 224.

MHS is Maui’s only animal shelter and the single open admission organization, accepting all in need, twenty four hours a day, seven days a week. The private, nonprofit organization has a county animal management contract, which includes humane enforcement. MHS offers many services to the public, including but not limited to: stray and owner surrender intake, lost and found services, adoptions, outreach and education, a mainland transfer program, agility classes, and volunteer opportunities.
