55,000 Questionnaires to be Mailed for 2017 Maui Jury Pool
Beginning on Aug. 15, 2016, an estimated 55,000 juror questionnaires will be mailed out on Maui.
The surveys were sent to individuals who have a Hawaiʻi state driver’s license or are registered to vote in Hawaiʻi.
The judiciary will be sending the questionnaires to an estimated 235,000 individuals across the state, including 85,000 residents on Oʻahu, 55,000 in Maui County, 70,000 on the Big Island of Hawaiʻi, and 25,000 on Kauaʻi.
The questionnaires are used to help select potential jurors who may be eligible to serve in 2017.
Those who receive a questionnaire have 10 days to complete and return the questionnaire to the Jury Pool Office. Judiciary officials say anyone who fails to respond may be penalized.
To be eligible to serve as a juror, you must be at least 18 years old, a citizen of the United States, a resident of Hawaiʻi, and able to read and understand English.
