3,300 Lose Power During Outages in Wailuku, Olinda

Three separate outages on Sunday resulted in a loss of power to an estimated 3,300 customers on Maui in the Wailuku and Upcountry areas.

Wailuku: 1,719 Affected After Electric Equipment Break

An estimated 1,719 customers in Wailuku lost power on Sunday, Aug. 7, 2016 when electrical equipment on a utility pole broke on Kalua Road.

The incident was reported at around 1:17 p.m., and power was restored to a majority of customers by 2:07 p.m.  The remaining 35 customers had power restored by 8:36 p.m. when crews concluded repairs.

1,487 Lose Power During Brief Outage in Kula

At around 3:21 p.m., approximately 1,487 customers in the Kula area experienced intermittent power loss for 11 minutes due to trees in lines along Lower Kula and Copp Road.

Downed Tree Knocks Out Power to 125 in Olinda

An additional 125 customers lost power in the Olinda area on Sunday afternoon when a tree came down on electrical lines along Polipoli Road.

Maui Electric representatives say the outage was reported at around 2:27 p.m., and power was restored by 6:34 p.m.
