Boots to Business -RebootFlyer-August 30th and 31st 2016 MRTC Final1“Boots to Business Re-Boot,” a workshop for veterans interested in starting or growing their business, will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday, Aug. 30 and 31, at the Maui Research and Technology Center in Kīhei.

“Boots to Business Re-Boot,” is an entrepreneurial education and training program offered by the US Small Business Administration in collaboration with the US Department of Defense for veterans interested in learning more about the opportunities and challenges of business ownership.

“We are very excited and honored to be able to offer this needed educational opportunity to the veteran community here in Maui County”, said Wayne Wong, Maui center director for the Hawai‘i Small Business Development Center Network. “We are looking forward to presenting more resources for veterans locally, now that a new Veteran Business Outreach Center has commenced operations in the state.

The curriculum will provide valuable assistance to veterans exploring business ownership or other self-employment opportunities by leading them through the key steps for evaluating the feasibility of their business concepts.

Instructed by skilled business advisors of the SBA and Small Business Development Center, Step One participants will also learn about SBA resources available to help access start-up capital and additional technical assistance.

An additional online, follow-up entrepreneurship course instructed by a consortium of professors and practitioners led by the Institute for Veterans and Military Families at Syracuse University is available to those participants completing Step One.

This two-day course is no-cost to veterans of all eras, service members including members of the National Guard and Reserves and their spouses.
