ArT=Mixx: METAMORPHOSIS on Maui, Feb. 4
Maui Arts & Cultural Center’s popular ArT=Mixx series, a fusion of performing and visual arts, will focus on the current Schaefer International Gallery exhibit: AKIHIKO IZUKURA: The Way of Natural Textiles on Saturday, Feb. 4 from 7 to 11 p.m.
The evening’s ‘Metamorphosis’ theme is derived from the new exhibit that features a custom-designed installation for the gallery space by the artist that includes a large cocoon-like tubular structure made with yards of handwoven natural dyed silk and bamboo. The ArT=Mixx event is free and open to anyone 21 and over.
ArT=Mixx is where artist and audience meet and engage. Featured in this edition of ArT=Mixx are event production by FUZZBOX PRODUCTIONS, music by DJ JEREMY SOLE from Los Angeles and live performances. Food and beverage will be available throughout the evening. Attendees are encouraged to come in costume, mingle, and connect to the arts.
The evening food options include multiple selections by Outrigger Pizza along with Maui Kazowie Kettlecorn and Maui Tropsicles. A full selection of beverages, both hot and cold, will be available.
The event takes place throughout the heart of the Center, encompassing Yokouchi Pavilion, Schaefer Gallery and A&B Amphitheater. Food and beverages will be available throughout the evening, as attendees enjoy music and dancing, video art, visual art, performance art, friends and fun.
ArT=Mixx is for adults 21+ years only; all attendees must be 21 and show current official photo ID to enter the gates. ArT=Mixx is a fusion of visual art, video art, music, fashion, dance, performance art, and interactive art-making.
ArT=Mixx is presented by The MACC and sponsored by the County of Maui, conceived as a series of events to bring the 21-and-over crowd together to find their inner artist. Exhibits in the Schaefer International Gallery serve as a focal point for this interactive social event full of art, music and creativity.
