13 Year Old Savannah Stone Takes First WQS Win in Tahiti

Savanna Stone, 13, of Maui, just won the first professional event of her career at the Papara Pro, a WQS 1000 in Tahiti. She overtook Vahine Fierro in the final with a combined heat total of 12.20 that just edged out Fiero’s 11.70.

“This is my second year here at Papara and the wave is super fun,” said Stone in an interview with the WSL. “I feel really good about the win. I was competing against my friend, and of course, it’s always hard to compete against your friend, but it was super fun and I’m super stoked.”

Maui’s Summer Macedo was also in the event, and made it to the semifinals of the Junior Women’s division. The next event of the WSL Hawaiʻi/Tahiti Nui region is the Women’s Pipe Pro QS 1,000 and Men’s Pipe Pro Junior on Oahu’s North Shore. For more information visit www.worldsurfleague.com.
