New Residential Landfill Fees Begin Today in Central Maui

A new residential landfill fee begins today, July 1, 2017 for users of the Central Maui Landfill only.

The residential landfill fee is $3 and needs to be paid in cash until the Department of Environmental Management can set up an online system for residents to pay with credit and debit cards.

County Communications Director Rod Antone issued a press release saying information given to the Maui News this week stated that the fees would not be collected until October, however he said, that is incorrect. The new residential landfill fees will begin to be collected at the landfill on July 1st, which is the start of Maui County 2018 fiscal year, however credit and debit cards payments will not be able to be accepted until October.
