Henry Kapono to Headline Benefit to Support Maui Kupuna

Hale Makua Health Services will host their annual Kōkua for Kupuna fundraiser on Saturday, Sept. 9, 2017, at the Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa’s Ocean Lawn.

Nā Hōkū Hanohano Award winner and Grammy nominated singer/songwriter Henry Kapono will headline the event with special guest Johnny Valentine.

This year’s theme, Continuing the Journey, will pay tribute to the life and legacy of long-time Hale Makua Health Services supporter, Sue Cooley, who passed earlier this year. Over her lifetime she provided over $4.6 million in funds which made major improvements to the kitchen at Hale Makua Kahului, making it possible to efficiently prepare over 1,000 meals daily, and providing the funding needed for the organization to currently undergo a master planning process for the Hale Makua Kahului and Wailuku locations.

Registration for the event will open at 4:30 p.m. with the formal program beginning at 6 p.m. Proceeds from the fundraiser will help frail elders and disabled individuals who cannot afford healthcare services.

Kōkua for Kupuna will include an opening performance by Halemanu, a Hawaiian buffet dinner, two hosted drinks, and a silent auction with over 100 items from local retailers and restaurants.

Tickets for the event are $150 for adults, $40 for keiki five to 12 years old, and $1,500 for a reserved table of 10 with premium seating. Tickets and tables can be purchased by calling 808-871-9271 or online.
