18th Annual Baby of the Year Contest Seeking Entries

The 18th Baby of the Year Contest takes place on Saturday, Oct. 7, 2017 at the Maui Fair.

Entries are now being accepted with registration available online. Eligible participants must be born between Oct. 7, 2015 and Oct. 7, 2016.  The entry deadline is Sept. 22, 2017, or the first 95 contestants.

The contest is presented by the Maui Fair, Pacific Media Group & HMSA.

The contest takes place at a new time, 3 p.m., on the Main Entertainment Stage. Keiki are judged on physical appearance, healthiness and personality, with each category scored on a 50-point scale. The five highest-scoring babies are each awarded prizes from the Maui Fair and its many sponsors. All contestants will receive a goodie bag from sponsors.

“We are proud to bring the 18th Baby of the Year Contest, which showcases the many families and children of Maui,” said Sherri Grimes, Maui Fair Managing Director.

The Maui Fair features an array of local food, entertainment, EK Fernandez Joy Zone, plus horticulture, orchid, livestock,

homemaking, photo and art exhibits and competitions. Unique and innovative products and services will be available in the “Maui Fair Products & Services” Tent and the Events Arena will showcase community groups, clubs and organizations as they perform and share their knowledge and skill. Some other friendly competitions will also make a return in 2017, including the Maui Fair Pie Competition, and the Chili Cook Off managed by Maui firefighters.
