Alexcia Wins 2017 Baby of the Year at Maui Fair

Alexcia Makena Gonzales was named the 2017 Baby of the Year at the contest held at the 95th Maui Fair. She is the daughter of Duane and Chelle Gonzales of Ha‘ikū.

As the newly crowned Baby of the Year, Alexcia won a two-night stay at The Westin Nanea Ocean Villas in Kāʻanapali, $100 cash, water play gifts, a rocking horse, toys, a custom cake, over $500 in gift cards, and much more.

The five highest-scoring babies also were awarded a variety of prizes from the Maui Fair and its sponsors.

The keiki were judged on physical appearance, healthiness and personality.

In her on stage introduction, host Alakaʻi Paleka and Keʻvan of KPOA 93.5 FM said Alexcia loves everything from chicken and steak, vegetables, spicy Mexican and Cajun food, lots of rice and every fruit there is. Her absolute favorite is watermelon, bananas, star fruit, grapes and oranges. Alexcia loves to swim and play in the water, reading and looking at books, playing with toys, watching Moana and going outdoors, stopping to smell all of the flowers.
