Faith Action for Community Equity (FACE) Maui will host an Affordable Housing Mayoral Forum on June 28, 2018 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Valley Isle Fellowship Church located at 1033 Waiale Road in Wailuku.

The main topic of the forum is affordable housing for Maui’s working families. The mayoral candidates who are confirmed to participate are: Don Guzman, Elle Cochran, Beau Hawkes, Michael Victorino, and Laurent Zahnd. The forum will be moderated by Donna Clayton and Stan Franco.

According to State Department of Business, Economic Development and Tourism in its recent report states that Maui County will need to produce approximately 14,000 housing units by the year 2025 to keep up with the public housing need.

FACE Maui believes that we can no longer afford to continue the current policy of “business as usual” which has led us to this housing crisis that is affecting the social fabric of Maui’s residents.

The primary focus of the mayoral forum is to find out from the candidates on what specific policies and initiatives they will pursue to address Maui’s housing crisis facing residents and how they will pay for those new policies and initiatives.

FACE Maui is encouraging Maui’s residents to attend the forum and get to know the candidates and where they stand on providing housing that working families can afford.
