First Hawaiian Bank (FHB) announced it will now introduce voice banking capability as an added feature to their online and mobile banking services for consumers and small businesses with a new skill for Amazon Alexa.

Starting Sept. 10, FHB customers can use their voice to access their accounts through the First Hawaiian Bank skill for Amazon Alexa using Alexa-enabled devices such as the Amazon Echo, Echo Dot, and Echo Show or through the Alexa app.  First Hawaiian Bank joins other financial institutions across the country to make voice banking available to its customers.

“First Hawaiian Bank’s introduction of voice banking is part of our continued commitment to innovative technology to deliver a personalized customer experience,” said Eric Yeaman, First Hawaiian Bank president and chief operating officer. “By expanding the choices our customers have in how they want to bank with us, we are making banking simpler and more convenient.  Voice technology is already changing the way we go about our daily tasks. The ability to say a command and to hear the information you need instantly, is a lot faster for most people than logging in and typing out a request.”

By simply speaking a command using the First Hawaiian Bank skill, FHB customers can hear their account balances or their recent transaction history for their savings, checking, credit card and loan accounts.  To begin using the voice banking capability, FHB customers will need to enable the First Hawaiian Bank skill in the Alexa app or on Amazon.com, link their FHB Online or Mobile account and create a 6-digit voice code for added security.  Examples of voice commands that can be used are:

  • To open the First Hawaiian skill:  “Alexa, open First Hawaiian Bank”
  • To ask for account balance: “What is my checking account balance?”
  • To ask for recent transactions: “What are my recent transactions?”
